Getting closer to the culture of Minahasa in the city of Manado

Manado, a city located in northern Sulawesi region. Has a very famous tourist attraction, namely Bunaken national marine park. Manado is the city which became a transit point to the Bunaken,  has a unique cultural attraction to be one of sightseeing during your trip . Below are some form of Older culture and Indigenous Cultural Communities in Manado.
The old culture that was a proud native people of Manado namely:
Mapalus
Is a form of mutual aid Mapalus traditional heritage Minahasa people in the city of Manado, which is a system of procedures, methods or techniques of cooperation for the common good by each member in turn. Mapalus emerged based on the awareness of togetherness, the limitations of his ability to both ways of thinking, working, and so forth.


Houses Stage
Houses on stilts or wale is the residence of the household members of the Minahasa people in the city of Manado, in which is used as a place to perform various activities. Stage house antiquity intended to avoid a sudden enemy attack or an attack by predatory animals. Although the situation is now no longer the same situation before, but still many people who build houses on stilts on the basis of modern home construction.

Thanksgiving
In the past thanksgiving was held to convey prayers or mantras praising the greatness and power of the gods for the blessings that are given while dancing and singing the praise of poetry that glorifies. Currently thanksgiving held in Manado City in the form of worship in the church. On the day that every household to prepare food and cakes to be eaten by household members, are also prepared for the guests who came to visit.




Traditional Music Arts

Maengket Dance
Maengket dance is one of the art of folk dancing Minahasa people in the city of Manado which is a folk dance spectacle. This dance is accompanied by the singing and the accompaniment of drums or drum which is usually performed after the rice harvest as thanksgiving to the Creator. Currently maengkat dance has evolved in society to form stacks with new creations.

Kabasaran Dance
Kabasaran dance dance cakalele often called, is one of the traditional dance Minahasa people are widely played by the people of Manado, which is usually displayed on special occasions such as welcoming guests and performances of cultural arts. This dance is imitating the behavior of the ancestors and is a dance of war against the enemy.

Kolintang Music
Kolintang music was originally made from a material called wunut of the type of wood called belar. In further developments, kolintang began using wood materials eggs and chrysolite. Kolintang orchestral music as a product of traditional arts not only as a means of entertainment, but also as a medium of music education that began implementation of school children in the city of Manado.


Bamboo Blow music
Traditional music is derived from Sangihe Talaud islands created by a farmer in 1700. At first only a bamboo musical instrument consolation for the farming community after a day of activities as farmers who usually sounded after dinner. Today in the city of Manado, bamboo music has become one kind of music that is often used on certain occasions in order to become more lively and prestigious.

Bia Music
Bia is a kind of snail shells or sea life. Around the year 1941 a resident of Stone Village North Minahasa make shellfish / snail as a pile of music. Bia music has finally become one of the traditional art of music that also provide added value to the people of Manado. With the presence of this musical arts performances and events in particular, has aroused special attraction for tourists both foreign and archipelago.




Community  And  Procedures  Living in Manado

The traditional way of life that the people of Manado is related to living habits and customs. Living habits and customs of the people of Manado is more influenced by the environmental community Minahasa, because customary law of the city of Manado is part from Minahasa Region.

Settlement
Settlement patterns from each village in Manado City area is generally located above ground terrain, both highlands and lowlands are densely clustered. Urban villages and urban neighborhoods to each other connect-connect into a single entity follow the highway and extending follow the small roads and alleys.


Indigenous
The division of Manado City residents based on citizenship, namely Indonesian Citizen (WNI) and foreigners (foreigners). The native city of Manado consist of eight sub-tribes, namely Tonsea, Tombulu, Tontemboan, Toulour Tonsawang, Pasan or Ratahan, Ponosakan, and Bantik.

Immigrants Residents
Which includes new settlers in the city of Manado, are foreigners like the Portuguese and Spanish descendants are called the Borgo Manado, the Netherlands, called the Endo Manado, Chines called the Chinese people of Manado, Arab called Arabs Manado, Japan and India. There are also new settlers who came from all regions in Indonesia, such as from Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Papua, and others.
